i have a fire eel, in my 55 gal now, he will be moving to my larger tank when he grows but right now he is with a BGK, and 2 small cory cats, what would be good tank mates for them, i kinda wanted to breed somthin but idk if i can do that,, but im open to any suggestions

the cory cats may get eaten eventually. I housed my old tire track with a black ghost and panda cories without any problems. but when I got a new tire track I took the cories out because I didn't want them to become a snack.

you can't breed anything with the fire eel i there he will eat the babys
and some good tankmates would be cichlid, catfish but it can't be too small.

yeah anything that cant fit in its mouth.. some medium sized catfish would be good.. unless your fire eel is like 20+ inches i doubt it will touch the cories because of their spines unless their super small.. ive kept a 10in fire eel and a 15in tiretrack eel with 3 little 1in cories and they didnt bother them at all.. fire eels are really peaceful so you can throw just about anything in there as long as its decent sized.. try to avoid other species of spiny eels though.. they get along at first but will fight eachother for sure when they mature.. as i have realized when my TT killed my fire eel one day after living with him with no problems for about 8 months

Any fish that is large and not really agressive will do fine. Also, fire eels tend to be agressive toward fish of the same species and other fish that are similarly shaped.

breeding something probably isn't your best option as most of the young will get ate at night, or the parent fish will cause problems with your bgk and eel. i like fish like severums, geos, gouramis, stuff that isn't very aggressive and gets decent sized. although the fire eels i've had don't really bother any fish regardless of size.

Honestly? I'de try a pair of rams if you want to breed something. or a small pair of less aggresive cichlids. they will take care of their fry, yet won't try and take over the tank compleatly. they are also less likely to do an serious damage if they do try and get bossy. my fire eels beat up my Oscar when he's getting particularly sassy with them. but otherwise ignore his headbutts. he's truning into a holy terror that will need his own tank soon -.-... personalities of the individual fish plays into that part of it.
