i have a GT that absolutely dominates my 55 gal. really putting a hurt on my other fish. tomorrow im getting another 55 gal. to seperate him, wanted to know what we be good and colorful to put with him. any suggestions?

Nothing if he's bulling all the other fish now.

If you could pair him up, it might work, but if they don't like each other, he'll beat up on her, too. I wouldn't add any other fish to the tank, unless you're going to try and pair him up, but have a Plan B in case it doesn't work out. GTs are awesome, though. I think they are wonderful fish for single-fish tanks.

A catfish might work since the hang out at the bottom.

My GT is a male, as well. He's around 7 inches, and he tries to fight with my dog when she walks into the room. I've looked through the doorway and seen him LOL. So, the aggressiveness of these fish is not to be underestimated. I keep my guy in a 75, and keep the water perfect for him, and he's beautiful and very active, as well as very responsive. As I said, they're a wonderful fish for a single-occupant tank.

I have a female in a GT in a 55g with a common pleco and she attacks him... Honestly I'm about to put the pleco with my Africans, she grabs him by the fins and will drag him all around. I don't know why, shes just a b*tch. At the same time though, shes my favorite fish I own, always at the glass when I walk in, following me around the room. Great fish, awesome personalities, bad temper :]

I would say an aggresive green terror will need a 55 to it self if you got a bigger tank maybee you could add something else. But even a mate would be a bit of trouble in a 55. Spouse abuse is not at all uncoomon in almost all aggresive cichlids.
