Tank Mates for GT Pair

Clown Loaches, Pictus cats, giant danios, silver dollars, etc...

I personally don't do cichlid pairs with other cichlid tank mates.

Unless you have a bigger tank, all you can keep in there is the pair with dithers.

Another big cichlid is not a good idea in that size tank.

Once they breed, they are going to get territorial and want that whole tank to themselves and likely kill anything else.

Water conditions are also to look at. With a pair of GT's that can get 12", water conditions will deteriorate quickly if you add much else.

Assuming you are calling a "pair" 2 sub adult/adult fish, 66 gallons is too small for a pair of adult green terrors. Youll probably need to get a bigger tank and then think about adding other NON cichlid tank mates (unless you go over 125g, then other cichlids can work.) Typically spawning "pairs" dont do good in tanks with other cichlids unless the tank is at least 6ft long.

When my green terrors bred the female kept a small circle of protection around the batch and the male a larger circle. I have kept pictus cats, tiger barbs, blue gourami, and red hook mets with them at different times without issue. I do not keep pictus cats with them if they are breeding or someone will get hurt. They never had any issues with the dithers and never killed anything even when they had fry. My pair liked the smaller tank more it seamed, they only would use half of the 125 and bred better in the smaller tank so I moved them back to my 60. Now I only have the male, 4 blue gourami, and a couple other dithers in the 60, my 125 has become a grow out tank for now.
