I am looking for a tankmate for a male GT. It needs to be a cichlid. What about a H. Pearsi? Or another gt? A carpintis vontehillo? Give me some opinions. It will be from http://americancichlids.net/index.html. The tank also has 4 silver dollars 2 red hook silver dollars and a gibby.

Tank is a 4x2x2 120 gallon.

which tank is he in?

Hes moving to the 120 tomorrow.

Did you just put the tank size or am having a hard time reading again lOl

Anyways it really depends on you, Im putting my GT in a 60g with a Ornate Bichir and some sort of ditcher fish. Personally I love both GTs and JDs and if I could I keep them both I would. But the carpintis vontehillo seems to compliment the GTs coloring and it sorta reminds me of a EBJD lOl. Its up to you, but are there any other cichlids you prefer, I myself enjoy the more common but different variant ones. Did you want any of the cichlids to be your center pierce or did you just want to add another one just as a tankmate?

The gt and other cichlid as centerpiece. I just ordered ebjd's from Bb66cuda but they are too small for the 120g and the GT. I would pick whatever i want but what is the aggression level of a GT and the cichlids i listed? Thats the problem. And just put the tank size. Haha.

Well each fish is going to have different personalities. Ive heard stories of GTs terrorizing a tank but my GT is quite peaceful, sharing a tank with Black Neon Tetras and Julii Cories. He ocasionally chases them away from food but for the most part he keeps to himself. As for the other fish, the H. Pearsi is said to be rather peaceful except with smaller fish but Im unsure of the C. Vontehillo. As long as you have some sort of backup plan Im sure you can put almost any CA/SA cichlid (well besides the "Megladons" of the cichlid family). Hope Im helping somewhat lOl

Just thought of this, maybe a Festae? It has bright vibrant reds, yellows, oranges, which will contrast your GT in that tank.

I think i want the pearsi with my GT. Is the cichlasoma pearsi the same as the herichthys pearsi?
