Tank mates for top of tank

Hello,
Looking for some recommendations for the top of my Polypterus tank. The tank looks pretty bare since the polys hide most of the day.
The polypterus is only about 3 in big at the moment, a baby. I plan for 2-3 of them in the tank.

Most do some type of charchin. Im not really into them but saw a red tail barracuda yesterdy that looked really cool

Pink tail calve is, red yellow tail cudas, hujeta gars, anableps( large tank/salt), and characin gars.

I have pinktail chalceus, hujetas will be nice, odoe pike, apollo shark.

At times I miss having them because they were very active but a lot less maintenance now. Also I dont get drenched every time I feed.

SD are good clean up crew and very active, but they chew on everything, lolz, im just waiting for the other bala shark to grow and my 8 sd will be rehome, im only keeping the wide bars.

Agree with that. Plus if it's upper jaws then should also be scaled down to it. SD's require good amount of space. Too nippy at times. But great dither for lower jaws and toothy fish.

Reason why i dont like sd's (among many lol) is they may clean up visible left overs but really do add to the bioload since they are eating machines, do better in schools, and also need to be fed.

I just add mollies and guppies and like the shrimp I add more when their numbers get low lol
