Tank mates for two tanks

I have a waterfall kit with it. I could form that into the scape with heavy rock. Would that work? Most of the fish above are found in calm to moderate waters correct

Exactly, if you plumb the whole thing thru a waterfall you could make it so there's less current.

Exactly, instead of changing filtration you can simply manage flow, have the flow run into some boulders or such to slow it down.

The problem with any gar is they all get large enough to pose danger to senegals.

Leaf fish would be a possibility tho, you could also add a kissing gourami and maybe a trio of silver dollars

I like the idea of a gourami never knew they got so big I knew others got 6 inches or so so I never looked into them but I like their behavior. Anything like silver dollars but with more color? And I figured as much our gar get huge our rivers have tons. Bass pro has a giant one too.

Scats are more colorful then silver dollars, but get 18 inches so how about: some bluegill or redear sunfish

Never thought they could go with something like a bichir but they do get big
