tank mates in a 20gal

I bought a firemouth to put in my 20gal today and I was just wondering what sort of catfish I could possibly get instead of a pleco. I like them but I was hoping to get something different so let me now what you think.

I would think a bigger tank is in need... but Repheal catfish are nice looking and hard plated which should make them fine for the firemouths. They have stripped and spotted, i prefer the spotted.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention that everything will be moved into a 55gallon once i find a new home for my oscars who need a bigger home and i just cant afford to give them one right now

Pictus, Raphael, Synos, all work... you could also look at hoplo and some corys depending on what size the firemouth is now, start them together small enough, and its usually ok when they are raised together... I had an Oscar raised with a GT and a cory, within a few months he could have eatten them both, and never touched them until i moved the oscar out about six months later, I still think they would have been fine had I left them all together.

The firemouth is about 2 inches, maybe 3 at the most
