can you keep oscars with giant gourami and arrowanna my gourami is pinning since i lost my pacu he needs a tank mate that swims with him ive been offered a 12inc oscar
i keep m,y GG with oscars and although he has shown aggression to one in particular and initially striped his fins he seems to have calmed. id certainly want to add a decent 7inch oscar minimum. the tin foil barbs have been reall good with him if you want a good suggestion for tank mates.
you can keep an o with anything that wont fit in his mouth but if he dosnt like his new mates he could evict them heard of o's breaking the backs of plecos and and literaly pushing and biting bigger guys ,it really depends on your o's temperment give a day or two and it dosnt work out after that remove him because there will most certaintly be scales flying they can get pretty brutish good luck dave......... IMO i wouldnt try it .
I would think it would work, if introduced properly- I would take out the dominant fish(gourami) , rearrange the tank some (break up established territories), and then add the two back at the same time. How big is your gourami?
Oscar and Giant Gourami should work out fine as long as the Gourami shows no aggression. I hope you have a strong filtration because Oscars and Gourami can produce quite a bit of waste.
let me start by saying this ''NOT ALL FISH ARE CREATED EQUAL''(sorry for shouting)
what size is your tank and your fish aswell ,I asume larger then 90gal??? ,
oscar can be peacfull or nasty ,mine killed a few tank mate's even pleco's . but for the most part gentle..
if your arowana is getting beat on maybe some ditcher's on the large side ex: tinfoil's , tiger barb's ,even smaller sized cichlid's that grow no larger then 6'' ex: firemouth's , convict's .
your just going to have to roll the dice as they say, if you want a new tank mate for your GG... if you have a second tank large enough for one of these fish try it you can alway's take one out and place it in the second tank ...
