I have my 45 Gallon Hex tank cycled and ready for more fish. Right now, I only have 9 neon tetras in there and they're doing great.

I think my wife is going to influence this tank, so I can't have any cool fish. They have to be "cute" and "pretty" (think lame) and not eat the tetras or my love life is going to diminish further (YIKES!).

So, what can I do? I'll be needing catfish/algea eaters as well.

Thanks!!

P.S. I will post pics of the tank tonight as I'll be buying this fish ASAP.

I agree rams are a gd idea and should do fine with the neons

That settles it. I will go and pickup a pair of German Blue Rams! And maybe a red-tail shark. That should be an interesting mix!

I'll probably go ahead and plant the aquarium as well.

Let me know if you guys think of anything else! I'll have pics up tonight!

Rams should be ok with the neons. You'll just need plenty of plant cover & add a few more neons or cardinal tetras for movement. You don't want to add any other type of cichlid except rams don't usually eat other fish but geophagus (earth eaters do eat fish). Only small fish like danios small barbs & tetras will be ok; large fish eat little fish no matter what type. The color of rams (apistogramma & other type) will also highlight the tank.
