OK, so I have set up my 100G corner bow front tank (4.5ft from corner to corner) and was planning on definitely keeping one red neck severum. My original idea was to keep 5-6 rainbows (maybe herbetaxelrodi or Blehers) and 3 geophagus tapajos redhead. I am also stocking the tank with 6 congo tetra.
My boyfriend says he would prefer some Denison barb (maybe 5?) to the rainbows but I am unsure as to whether they would be compatible with the S. American cichlids or whether there would be enough room. It will definitely be a mixed soup of fish but if they like similar water parameters then this shouldnt be a problem right?
Now I am thinking maybe I shouldnt go for the G. Tapajos at all and just go for a different single geo with maybe a firemouth or a blue acara. I am after a colourful tank and the denisoni barb certainly would add colour. I am not sure I want to wait 2 years for the rainbows to colour up!
I use RO water mixed with 10% tap water (tap water is v. hard) and my parameters are usually pH neutral and hardness low-medium.
I forgot to add, decor consists of very fine natural gravel, bogwood, some smooth river pebbles, a couple of anubias and some Echinodorus osiris.
