I recently transferred my male gt, a male con, pleco and two danios from a 30 gallon to a 75 gallon tank. My question is what are some possible tank-mates ? The gt and con have been together for over a year. The con is a bit of an a**hole, so it has to be something that can hold its own. I was thinking some more danios and a firemouth..As far a filtration I have a penguin 350 bio wheel and fluval 405.

Sounds like a good idea and filtration sounds good. If there aren't many hiding spots already, then I would suggest a few more. Also I think it may be a good idea to get the firemouth as big as you can. I know I can only find small ones, and if the others are a year old, then I'm sure they're a decent size.

I have a GT, a Black convict, and a Firemouth in 75 gal. The Firemouth and the GT get along really well. I think that it's funny that you mentioned that you convict is an a**hole. Mine use to be really mellow and peacefully until the first time she spawned, ever since then she has dominated the tank and is mean as hell.

maybe a texas or maybe some bullsharks or ornate pictus you could also checkout synodontis's

i would put a datnoid in because they are extremely fun fush to watch each and grow, the only problem i run across is getting them to eat pellets and not live food all the time. they also grow slow very slow

You could probably do a number of different fish but I think you could do one or two smaller sized cichlids yet in a 75. That GT will get big eventually, but you should still have some space. I agree, you could do a firemouth, pictus cats, or a jack dempsey, a severum or two possibly. A texas would work to, but they also get quite big. I saw a pic once of a texas that was quoted at being 17". I don't know for sure if I totally buy that, but it was a hoss as it dwarfed the oscar in the tank. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your ideas and insight, but i have my eye set on a firemouth. I would love a JD or a Texas but they get to large for my 75. I spoke with a rep at House of Fins in CT and he said that next week sometime he’s expecting a 5-6" wild caught firemouth. Does anyone know where there are wild FM pics? or does anyone have one?

Thanks again, Al
