I've had a brichardi with my ropes and bichirs for about 6 months. No issues. I've also had a Syno occilifer with my bichirs for 11 years with no issues.
I'm trying to find a suitable African algae eater. I have an aquarium plant book, which said that this fish Synodontis brichardi eat algae. Is it true? Are there any other suitable Africans algae eaters? Thanks for responses.
They definately have a sucker shaped mouth, but I've never witnessed it eating algae.
The only real African algae eater that I know of are the Garra species of fish.
They get fairly large as far as I know. As a bonus, you can stick your feet in your tank and they will clean up the dead skin off your feet.
I have tried to get my hands on Garra congoensis. Around here it's almost impossible to get. That is why I've been trying to come up with another option for the algae eater. Probably need to continue the chase after it?
Do you mean Garra rufa? Information on what I have found the fish is from Turkey. If you have received information that the fish are also found in Africa, I would be very grateful for information.
