Tank mates

Arowanas are usually not recomended with gars. It is a combo that can result in the loss of the gar or the aro.

A silver arowana should outgrow that tank within a year. A florida should be fine for a while in the 125, though individual growth rates would determine how long exactly.

skip the 125 and get a 120W 48"x24" footprint. lookign back I woulda gone that route instead of the 75..a s to how long 18" will last until about 16" which many gar will hit by the end of their first year.. as for silver fish.. as stated.. silver fish + gar = bad things.. I tried w/out success to into a silver arrow with my florida for 3 monthes... they would take turns beating the crap out fo eachother until the gar shredded teh arrow so bad I wans't sure he'd make it.. I healed him up.. and sold him after that last attempt.

Na I'm skipping the gars and getting a ray and maybe a clown knife and was planning to build a plywood tank and have it outside and have a line going threw my water boiler for heating but I'll see
