I have a Green Sunfish, I have had him for about 2 years and he has killed and/or eaten all of his tank mates since i got him when he was only an inch long, they included, one bluegill sunfish, one other green sunfish, and 8 baby bullhead, he also made life a living hell for my albino channel cat while they were in the same tank, what fish, If any, can I put with him to liven up the tank a little bit, it just looks so lonely in there, with my little guy in solitary confinement.........An suggestions?

PS. he is about 5 and a half inches long now, if the size is important.

What is the tank size? Green sunfish are naturally aggressive and will dominate other tank mates as well. I had one fish that was a serious terror and it was a bluegill X green sunfish cross. This fish gave all greens and bluegills hell. It only calmed down when it was not the larger and most dominant fish.

Because he couldn't "Play nice" he is currently in my only open tank, a ten galon, but soon will be moved into a forty, still all by his lonesome though......

Seen one in a lfs, it was housed with red snooks, green terrors. Comparible size of course

Had some pyscho green sunfish in the past, they would try to kill every sunfish beside the madtoms/bullheads

Put a largemouth bass around the same size in there! The LMB will eventually outgrow the 40 gal but until it does it should be able to hold its ground. I had a green like this so my fix was to put one of my LMB in there for a few days to show the green that it wasn't as tough as it thought it was. The largemouth was twice as big as the green and after I took the largemouth out the green quit being a dick. Eventually I just moved the green in with the big boys.

^ Had a big green killed a young largemouth bass at same size.
