So I'm purchasing a 75 gallon from someone online. It's an upgrade to my 20L currently housing a 4" gold saum, a 3" jeweled cichlid, and a 2" firemouth cichlid.

I'm trying to piece together in my mind what I want to eventually have in this 75 gallon. One idea I kicked around would be to move the saum to the 75 and add a similar sized JD as the gold saum and Dempsey was my first combo wish. I just like how the two fish compliment each other (barring their big attitudes)

If I can find a decent sized and healthy JD, I may put him in with the gold saum. I already know that full grown, those two fish would be just pushing the limits for a 75 and plan on purchasing something 100+ in the next few years.

My question is, anyone else have any combo suggestions for my tanks? I'll be running the 20L and 75 as of next week.

Again here's what I have.

20L tank
75 tank

4" gold saum
3" jeweled
2" firemouth

No plans on breeding. But I like dempseys, oscars, earth eaters, jags, as well as other central/sa cichlids.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

if u traded the jewel for a JD u be fine...

cool thanks. So your saying 75 gal with GS, JD, and FM would work? or would it still be best to keep the jeweled and fm in the 20. the Saum is the dominant and bigger fish now, but all 3 get along extremely well. It took them 4 weeks to warm up to each other but all eat happily together and dont fight over food.

such is life with cichlids. I recognize that one day my JD and GS may quarrel. But those two in a tank look so good together. I really only want those two together. Maybe 100+ might be something I look into this summer.

yes

My JD ripped my Suams eye out and pretty much destroyed the fins... They had been together since babies and the jd snapped one night and that's what I woke up to. Good luck lol
