Ok so this is just a thought. I have a 100 gallon Glass aquarium (No idea what is tempered and what isn't so i'm to much of a wuss to drill) and old weak looking wood grained plastic(poop brown), and I would like to overflow it into another 50 gallon tank mad into a sump. So my typical option would be an overflow box, but yet again, I am a giant wuss and teriffied of a suction loss and HUGE mess. So I thought about this little idea:

What do you all think about taking strips of black plexiglass say 4" tall, cut them to length of the four sides, screwing and glueing them into the old tank frame with some nice looking stainless steel appropriately sized screws. Epoxying the 4 sides together, then using silicon the inside of the new sides to the frame and the corners. Then cut in overflows in the back section of plexi.

Did I describe that well enough, and has anyone tried anything like this?

I can't say I follow your idea but i don't think i would screw into the wood aquarium frame. Silicon should be enough to hold your contraption to the tank.

Look at the DIY overflow sticky. That won't make a big mess unless you have leaks. There's no need to reinvent the wheel if all you're trying to do is build an overflow for a sump.
