I picked up a 125 the other day. It is a older tank, not tempered glass :) but because it is older it did not have a center brace. The glass is 5/8's inch but it does have a slight bow to it. should I worry about this and make a center brace and silicone it in or should I just let it go. I know they were designed this way before they started using thinner glass with the braces. I got the tank from the original owner and they never had any problems

If for nothing else, it makes it easier to put lids on it :D (and no one will know your concerns :D)

Mount the brace (I mean lid support ;)) with the tank empty of course.

I would make the center brace personally to at least feel better about it. Seems like a large tank to not have a center brace especially if it is noticeably bowing.

Yeah I think its a good idea, you cant see that its bowed by just looking at it but I do think I would feel better with it braced,..

3rd vote for the brace right here.

You have the right information. Since you are comfortable not having a brace, there is no reason not to continue with it the way it is.

I have two older tanks without braces and it never bothered me that they didn't have one. For their lid supports, I cut glass to fit the width when full.

I brace all my tanks...whether they need them or not. Better safe than sorry. Plus it's a pretty easy cheap fix that lasts a long time. I vote....do it.
