just recently my tank has been getting this odor usually the morning after i feed them, i know its the water so i did a wc thiis morning and its gone now but how do i control this odor or has anyone had the same problem

i'll have to pick up some purigen

Doing daily water changes ought to fix this. Cut down on the feeding for a few days, let the BB do it's job.

I've run glade plug-ins and airwick plug-ins for years in the house and never had an issue. I have a automatic spray system in my son's room that sprays away from the tank every 30 minutes as well and never had an issue. That one did worry me a bit when we got it but we have it sitting on the floor on the aquarium stand base, it's been running in there for 9 months without issues. I would not put a spray higher up, and if it's summer with the ceiling fan running we put the spray container under the bed so it's not picked up in the air as much. Just don't plug a glade/airwick into a powerstrip, or anything at an angle, the oil leaks out, keep it in a wall plate.

I'd say the best answer on here so far has been just keeping up with water changes. Test your water for ammonia and change your carbon. It would also help to know the size of the tank, fish stock and fish size as well as how often/what you feed. That will help us pinpoint the problem so you can work on preventing it but the solution will almost always be water changes. The solution to pollution is dilution!
