Tank over crowded???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi and welcome to MFK!

Nice tank.

You will have some aggression going on, but your fish were all introduced as juvies. I made some mistakes early on and I have some "incompatibles" in my 150. But I've been lucky so far and no one has told the fish they aren't supposed to get along :)

You may have to seperate sometime in the future, but you should be OK for now. You have a decent size tank and good filtration. You may want to considering adding a few more fish to help spread the aggression around.

125 gallon new world cichlid tank w/ 2 fluval 305 canister filters- 1 electric blue jack dempsey, 1 green terror, 1 firemouth, 1 pink convict, 1 black convict, 1 blood parrot -all juvies around 2 inches

Would you suggest more cichlids or maybe some schooling fish like tiger barbs or silver dollars?

I would definitely stay within the Cichlid family, preferably along the lines you have established already. You could easily introduce a Bristlenose Pleco though. Most Cichlid keepers are somewhat into Plecos as well. BNs hold their own against the aggressive Cichlids.

I would suggest schooling fish. Some Congo Tetra's, Tiger Barbs or something along those lines. You should be fine with that stock, except the EBJD. They grow kind of slow compared to the rest of your stock. Do you have a back up tank on hand just in case?
