I'm as confused as you are, after 1 1/2 years of fishkeeping, I fearfully tested my water
Couldn't afford ammonia, sry
Nitrate: 30ppm
Nitrite: 0.4ppm
pH: 6.4ish
kH: 40
gH: 120

I know my gH is high, but how are my other params? I have danios, angelfish and a pleco. Are my params O.K.???

My angelfish are angry with you...

Don't worry about gh/kh/pH. A bigger concern is why you're nitrites are .4, they should always be zero, especially in an established tank. I think you should definitely get an ammonia test.

I said .4 to be safe, It reads mostly 0.
The test kit is a strip master, so I had to estimate. A more accurate guess would be 0.2ish.
P.S.: My gH is actually much lower(35ish), the test just had to wait a period of time b4 it works.
P.P.S.: The ammonia test didn't come in the kit, the kit was 18$ and I only had 20... could barely afford taxes...

Yeah, nitrites should always be zero. Have you recently cleaned your filters or added a bunch of fish? You could be going through mini cycle, but more likely is the fact that you used test strips which aren't highly accurate. If it's all you could afford, then it is what you have to work with. Without knowing ammonia though, it is hard to tell if you are just reading the nitrite strip incorrectly.

looks like you got a bump in your cycle, have you overfed real bad lately, or a fish died etc.

I haven't done a waste scoop in a while, so that would be the cause.

Do you have a good lfs around that you could take your water to get tested. The test strips aren't the most accurate or reliable tests out there so before worry too much I would get it tested properly.
