Hi guy's I have had my 5' x 20" x 2' tank set up for around 5 month now and as you can imagine its fully cycled by now with 0 ammonia at the moment I have a convict, small catfish and a Pakistani loach in the tank, what would you guy's recommend to add to the tank to ensure that it is ready for a 5" motoro ray? Well aware the ray will need a larger tank just want to know how do I increase the bio load to cope or am I okay adding ray straight off? All other fish will be removed once the ray is added by the way.

Cheers!

add the ray, monitor the parameters closely. You probably will be ok with the established tank.
Otherwise remove the current stock and dump 20 feeder fish in there...

Leave the feeders out

what are your nitirites and nitrates reading

Bear in mind that this is a large tank for the current bio load but the ray will make it a tiny tank with a huge extra bio load, the filter will take a while to take up the strain so test daily after adding the tank. The loach could be a problem as many have spikes and the ray will try to eat it, the convict will become lunch eventually and make sure the cat fish doesn't such on the disc or get eaten. Test regularly, change lots of water with dechlor and get ready for the large tank in 12 months.....oh yes, and enjoy ray keeping, it is addictive!

Okay change of plan, the shop could only order a retic in for me so that will be the choice, curios as to where people in the UK get their earth worms from? T1 and co would you like to chime in on what you feed? Is it a case of frozen prawns mostly?
