Went to lfs and while lookin round found a 145gal tank advertised as a 130 that leaked had no stand, but you can have it today for 135$. Having a 75 with a flg whose already 16" I decided to take the project on. Stripped and recaulked the 145 gal and water tested before I did anything else. I was told by the guy @ the shop I got it from that I did not need worry bout the top supports as it had a metal frame all around. I filled the tank a d he couldn't have been more wrong, I had 1 1/2" of bow. Thank god my glass was good enough and the caulking job held. Drained it as fast as I could and now have reinforced the top with aluminum/rivits/set in jb weld. Scuffed the 2 surfaces and cleaned with zylene
before doin the jb. I have 3 aluminun braces 2@ 4" and 1 dead center @ 8". Its now under the water test, set up plastic markers across the tank and marked them with sharpie to see if it bows @ all... So far 2 hrs and nothing.

Nice tank, I shall be doing something similar this summer. I want to euro brace but at the same time be able to have room for hob filters.
