So here's my problem I bought a 125 for dirt cheap but when I got it home I noticed the center frame bracket at the top of the tank was broke. Ive gotten a good 1/4 inch thick acrylic strip to glue in its place. I know how important that bracket is on a tank that size. My question is this what is the best glue to use to ensure the acrylic sticks to the glass so that the tank don't bow at the top and leak or bust.

Hello; Not sure what may be the better adhesive is , but think the silicone will not work well. There are some epoxy types around that will bond well but I am not sure if they will leach anything into the tank ove time. I know there are adhesives to bond acrylic to acrylic but have no experience with glass to acrylic.
good luck

If the tank is GLASS, use a piece of glass for the center brace and yes silicone will work. you can get a nice thick glass cut to size at many hardware stores. DO NOT try acrylic to glass on the brace. Only time acrylic to glass is acceptable is when its low stress areas like sump dividers. Good luck. Oh and just buy GE #1 silicone from home depot.... MUCH CHEAPER... same thing as aquarium silicone. Don't use any other type of silicone other than GE #1 .... or your fish WILL DIE.

Thats they way I wanted to go but I had trouble finding it. LFS gave me a piece of acrylic for free and sold me the silicon. Now I find out its not a good idea to use acrylic on a glass tank so I might try and find a new frame bracket.
