I just got a used 100 gallon today.the guy brought 20 gallons of the water that was originally came in it along with 4 large Bala sharks.I decided not to clean to clean the filters to try and keep as much bacteria as possible. Is there anything else I need to do or know?.Would like to use that tank for breeding eventually. Thanks in advance for advice.

probably a good idea not to clean the filters ,wait till you have measurable nitrates, then stagger the cleaning. You can do as many water changes as you want ...but dont gravel vac until the nitrates show up...GOOD LUCK

Id say its fine. Just do daily water tests!

Id go w/ a hob and a good canister (xp4/3)

The old water has little to no BB so that was a bit pointless but maybe that will acclimate the bala sharks better. Id go ahead and buy more bio (ceramic) so its starts getting seeded then when u upgrade ur filtration ur good to go. keep some prime on hand incase of bb crash.

Pics?

Well I order a cascade 300 hob last week and will get xp 4 later on.The cascade 300 came today and they sent me SIX of them at the price I paid for one.Being an honest person I did call and tell them, they'll pick them up Tuesday. What a shame they wouldn't let me keep all six.
