ok i was curious if when you set up a tank should it sit directly on the stand or should i put some kind of "cushion" just to say such as cork or styro foam?? wasnt really sure.

thanks for the help.

If your tank has a plastic rim on the bottom then there is no need.

But if its a rim less and a plexi tank them some cork or styro is a good idea.

From the title of the post, it sounds as if you want to put the tank on a car or a horse, I can't be sure...LOL
None of my tanks have anything between them and the stand. I have heard of people using a thin sheet of styrofoam to help level the tank as it settles. It couldn't hurt.

Everyone always argues about that. I do use styrofoam under all my tanks because that's what most tank makers recommend (according to the LFS in town).

I think the recommendation is about half an inch. Not completely sure. Maybe Twisted will wander back and in tell us how thick the styrofoam she uses is.

I was just about to head to home depot to grab some styrofoam to make my tank sit flush with all the added weight as I fill the tank with substrate, rocks and drift. Just wondering how thick to get though.
