Hello,

I've been meaning to get 1 baby Oscar probably around 2 to 3 inches. Now my question is, the minimum 55 gal tank, enough or should I buy the 75 gal tank instead? Please no that I'm not planning on keeping another fish or another Oscar, I just want him to be alone. :)

Thanks!

buy the 75 gallon instead. bigger is always better and a 55gallon is to small for an oscar

it's not wrong to put it in a 55, it's just tht it might have very limited space when it get's tht 12" size. i see many people in other forums put their oscar in a 50. but as supergourami said, the bigger the better. :)

Okay, thanks! But if that's the case... how am I going to change this filtration set-up? (credits to www.oscarfish.com)

I believe if you only plan on one oscar in a 75 two HOB filters such as aquaclear 110's would be more than sufficient. Also, I'd go with the 75 if you can. A 12" fish in a 12" tank is just too cramped. You will get to see more of its natural behaviors with more space.

+1

1 Oscar in a 75, a aqua clear 110 (1x) should be good, I ran that exact setup for around 8 months.

Hey guys, thanks for your inputs. So basically I should buy a 75 gal tank for 1 Oscar and for the filters two large HOBs. :)
