So, after doing a bit of snooping around, on here and the rest of the interwebs, the grammodes cichlid has caught my eye. I am soon setting up a 3ftx18inx18in tank for a largish cichlid. They are supposed to grow to 12in, but most people seem to be of the opinion that even males rarely exceed 9-10in. So I'm putting it forward to you more experienced aquarists out there, hopefully also some grammodes owners, is my tank adequate?

Cool, it's good to know that there are some grammodes out there that don't act like their nickname 'mini-dovii's'. But do you think my tank is large enough? I would love to have one, but if my tank space is inadequate I'll just have to wait.

I picked up 6 juvies a few years ago at an ACA convention, they were put in a standard 75 gal, (48"L) with some similar size dithers. Within @4 months the dithers had disappeared and the dominant male killed all but 1 female.
The pair shared the tank for about 2 years and produced 3 spawns, he then took her out. Within that time, he went from 1" to about 8".
Your tank may work for 1 grammode, and no other fish, but you will need something much larger (like Jason's 200+gal) to keep a grammode copacetic with others.

No less than a 4ft 75GL for 1 individual.
