tank size for con breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you could breed cons in a bag on the way home from your lfs. :D

can be done but a 20g would be better, If you do go with the 10g buy a divider so you can seperate the male and female if needed.

LOL I would recomend a 40 breeder. This is one of my all time favorite tanks and an adaptable design. you can divide the tank diagonally with egg crate and house more pairs.

well pepole say you can breed convcits in a baggy or cup of water. i did a study and foung this not to be true. if the male and female are to close the fight for space. i would say 20 gallon is ideal for a pair and a 40 for 2 pairs. but a 10 gallon would get the job done.

Well I got 4 of them from the LFS, and I put them in the 10 gal. with a med. sized clay pot, a fake plant, and a rock cave thingy. They are roughly 1.5", all pretty even in size. While I was at the LFS I came across a tank that I think Iam going to get, and transfer them to. It's 33 gal., and it's long, and about a foot tall. Neat looking tank. I didn't get the full specs on it. maybe someone knows what I'm talking about. Hell it may have been a little shorter than a foot tall. It would need a fairly tall stand. (project time). anyhow what else do I need to do besides wait.

My cons bred in a 18G with no aggression towards eachother. 20G is fine for a pair.

What we mean by coffe cup/bag is that they'll breed anywere but 20G is best.
