OH
Hey everybody!! I haven't posted in awhile because I have been crazy busy! My Fahaka "Edward" is doing great. I wanted to ask a question about his tank size. I know that he will eventually need 100+ gal. Right now he is about 3 in. long, maybe 4 in. at the most. I wanted to know if he would be ok in a 55 gal. for about a year or so. Or do I need to put him in a bigger tank now?

Thanks!:nilly:

My guy reached just over a foot in a year. I bought him at about the same size as yours. I doubt the 55 will contain him. I know it doesn't help you, but after they reach a foot they start growing pretty slowly.

Thanks! That is kind of what I thought. I am buying a house next year, and I was worried about the apartment floors holding the weight of a 125g aquarium. I have been surfing the forums though, and I see that others have had the same concerns. The general consensus is that it should not be a problem.

ours has grown about 1" a month. but has had a 125 pretty much to himself.

:swear:what kills me is he stays in a 20 gal space most of the time

no he/she doesnt care to stray more than a foot from its house:swear:if the food (snails, crabs mostly) go to middle of the tank or farther they get to live untill they enter the area he feels comforatable in. thing is i bought the tank jus for it and its happy in a 20 longs space:nilly:

Filbert seems pretty lazy but I see him using every part of the tank. Thee are 2 caves in there (made from fake mangrove roots) & he uses both.
Here's his 125g tank:

That's a beautiful tank! Mine used to just stick to his favorite corner, but he has loosened up alot. He goes all over the tank now. He comes to the glass to greet me and beg for food. I love his personality!:)
