I have a 20" giant gurami in a 90 gal tank, The tank is a standard 48" long by 18" wide. I need to move this tank and replace it since its only
18" wide. I was thinking of using a 92 gallon corner tank. Does anyone see a reason not to use this tank ?

I wish to keep him in my living room. so I cannot have a a larger tank
unless I move him to another room. This fish is like an aquatic dog, and reacts to the family being next to him !

Regards,
Bob.

You should invest more if you want to keep a 20 inch giant gourami....at least you need a tank that is 8 feet long....2 1/2 feet wide.....2 feet tall.....

they can get pretty aggressive.....dont keep them with pacus or another giant gourami of the same sex.......I have a 750 gal tank and they can swim from one corner to the other in half a second if they get agressive... and they byte....they need space to swimm and turn and breathe...they like to explore so dont keep it in a 90 gal tank......

move it to another room....or buy a smaller couch...:-)

That's a huge tank, how many gurami's do you have in there ? Mine is the gray/silver type, not the red fin. I have read they can get to 24" to 27" in length. Do you agree ? I have found few resources for this fish and have never met anyone who has owned one. MIne loves tomatoes, oranges, bananas, etc... he seems like an aquatic dog. When I watch the evening news he stares at it, maybe since a single person sits on the screen. He does not watch any other tv !

In the 90 gal I have a standard wet/dry and I added a Fluvel FX5
that I found real cheap. Somone at a local store thinks that was two much. Any thoughts on this ?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi again...I used to have 3 giant gouramis...the relly big one died (around 24 inches) .....never knew why....that gourami was very old and fat....maybe he or she was 12 years old ....it was the smartest fish i ever had .....it is better to keep them alone with no other big fish....now I have the other two...but i keep them with pacu and midas.....but if I had another tank I move them and keep them alone....they fight a lot with pacus.....

The bigger your filter the better....if you are going to keep only the gourami its perfect....but if you are going to overstock your tank you will have to clean it every day...on that case it is better to build a sump...

You can read the article I wrote about my tank in the next link...and you can see the gouramis there...
