My wife and I just bought our first home. Which means I can finally upgrade my Pygo tank. I have 3 large Pygo sp, 10+", that are in a 75g. I can't decide which tank to upgrade to a 120 (48x24x48) or 180 (72x24x24). If I upgrade the 180 I have to sell my 125, but of I upgrade to a 120 I can keep the 125 So I'm not sure which way to go. I'm stuck. Any advice???

Thanks

A 120gal will surely work but having 2 extra feet in length is worth it for the 180. Whatever you choose will be good!

what are you housing in the 125g right now?

Upgrade to the 180 and sell the 125. THen buy 3 more 180's.

Right now the 125 is empty. We moved to an apartment and had no room for the 125. I'm going to put then in the 125 once we get the keys but they really need a 24" wide tank. These guys are big and will get bigger. I bet the biggest one is near 12".

I wish I could get 3 more 180s but that just won't happen.

Unless your Pygo's are Piraya I doudt they'll get much bigger - I have a 7 yr old Cariba @ 12" - 2x 6 yr old Netteri's @ 10 +11" in 150 XH - plenty of room. But that's not to say bigger isn't better because it is.

The Perfecto/Marineland 120 4x2x2 May be the worst designed tank since slate bottoms. The glass is 3/8" and the bottom glass is un-tempered. They crack like no other. The Oceanic 180 is 3/4" glass with tempered glass bottoms and top glass support - a far better choice unless ofcourse you like waking up in the morning to find dead fish and 120 gal's of water on the floor.

They are or were cariba. I got them last spring and they have been in the 75 ever since. From talking to the previous owner they are 5-6yrs old. I just worry that 6" in width won't be enough. They have already started claiming territories. The largest one has one side the second largest has the other side. The third is the smallest and is stuck in the middle of tank. And can't move without drawing the attention of the other two.

Otherone, how long have you had those pygos in the 150? How do you have your tank setup? Any deco or all bare?
