what would be a good footprint for a trio of mantilla/marbled motoro hybrids? the freshwater stingray profiles says that an 8x3ft tank would work well for full size mantilla, but either mantilla or the hybrid?

thanks

8x3 would be good, motoros get pretty big too so ... either way u would be safe remember bigger the better

Are you getting all males or all females? I would get 2 females and a male.....a few generations of inbreeding and maybe you'll have some you can keep in a 75 thier whole life..........

FYI........my Mantilla/Hybrid is bigger and growing faster than any Motoro I have. Its around 15 inches and not even 3 years old yet.

Tank size is going to depend on your fishkeeping beliefs.... Many people think that if the fish is 2 foot then all it needs is a 2 foot wide tank...... If this is the case then I think I will raise my kids in the closet.

Those Mantilla/Motoro hybrids are supposed to stay smaller.. but I would still go for 96x30"!!
if i knew how to multi-quote i would, but im lazy so yah.

miles, the tanks footprint will most likely be 96"x 36". since the motoro gets to about 30+", and the mantilla gets to about 24+", im gonna ballpark it to be in the middle.

DB, i will probably have to order them, like everyone else does these days, and id like to breed if i could, if it turned out to be successful enough, id be getting a second tank for the offspring, or a pond, dont know yet.

if you all know by now, i was originally considering a 120" by 48" tank, but its cost greatly outwayed its appeal, and ive gone with a more modest sized tank at a fraction of the cost.

miles, did you say motoro? i love suggestions!

thanks

Just messin with you bout the imbred thing... Just something to remember when getting rays. I almost just did it myself. Didn't really think about it before all these threads that have been started lately.

whats the average life of a ray if kept properly? 20 years? id say if they did breed by that time just leave them in and grow them out, but that may get crowded after a while. thanks
