1-tiger oscar
1-EBJD
1-firemouth cichlid
1-sailfin pleco
1-sunshine pleco
2-3 pictus catfish

I'm currently in the market for a 90 to 125 gallon tank which will have a 30 to 40 gallon sump. Do you think this fish list would work?

What do you think would pose the problem? Right now the oscar, EBJD, and sailfin are in a 55. The first 2 are about 7" and the pleco is about 5". As of now, no aggression.

It's possible. The Oscar and JD will more than likely fight. The firemouth which is smaller could be okay or not. Could get picked on alot from the Oscar or JD or not. With cichlids you really never know. You will need a 125 though, the Oscar will get massive even for a 90 and the JD get's a decent size. They will need room. 125's on Craigslist are cheap if you look daily.

If there's too much aggression I guess I'll have to remove one. So far the oscar is a big baby and he even got along with 2 convicts that were breeding.

I was hoping with the sump, I could get away with a 4 foot tank. Is it a water volume issue or do you think that the oscar and ebjd will need 6 feet to limit aggression?

A little of both. Aggression could be greatly reduced with some nice simple hides in a 125.

Also Oscars and plecos produce alot of waste/are very messy. I just did a quick search on those plecos listed they don't exactly stay small. With a 125 the tank will work out much longer than the 4 foot 90 gallon.

If your going to buy a 90, a 125 isn't alot different besides it's 2 feet longer. A 90 would work for awhile, but a 125 would be alot better.

Or...take out the Oscar and the 90 would last awhile.

So either keep the Oscar and get a 125 or lose the Oscar and get a 90.
