tank size help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For the pair I would think at least 60"x18" 120 gallon or even better 72"x18" 125. For the single 48"x18" 75 gallon. These will hold them for life.

the pair will need probably 150 gallon (72" x 18" x 28" or similar), I believe a single specimen (your male) could be kept in a 55 gallon (42" x 12 x 22) but i would recommend a 75 (48" x 18" x 21") as the 55's can get snug and they can't turn around when large. They can't be housed with other fish, they will usually kill them off.

55gallon are too narrow. Your fish will probably reach 12inches if it's a standard body flowerhorn and 55's are exactly that 12 inches. 75g minimum or something with 18"-24" depth. I don't see a problem keeping a pair in a 75-90g. If you're on a budget, 40 gallon breeder is the best tank to use for keeping single flowerhorns. Their growth is not stunted and they reach potential easily in one.
