ive been hearing that the size of the tank is what makes a fsh's size to be full grown. but ive also been seeing people keeping pacus in 10 gallons and growing up to 10" plus. does tank size really matter if you want your fish to grow. i also heard water changes help alot

yes tank size plays a roll in overall size of fish, but other things do equally, water quality, proper feeding, and tank size matter, and keeping pacu's of any size in a 10 gal is cruel.

the only reason a fish MIGHT stay small due to a tank being small is that the fish will put out too much waste than what the water volume can handle, in return providing poor water quality and stunting the fish's growth and significantly shortening its life span. thats why water changes are so important. if people do this on purpose it is extremely cruel and irresponsible.

that is a load of bollacks. it is true that poor wAter quality will stunt a fishes growth but with regular water changes and proper feeding a fish will grow too big for its tank when kept in an unsuitable sized tank

dmopar is right it's all about water quality. Fish's genes don't say oh look I'm in a little tank I better go ahead and stay small. Think about it like that and it should make sense. High nitrates due to high waste will stunt a fish's groth and lead to deformities like bent spines and other things.
