4x2 is pretty tight for a fish that's 12" long and a fast swimming sp. as well.

Mine is a 7'x30" foot print, she's around 13-14" and when she moves she needs every inch of the 7'. She's doing great and I've had her a year but would like her in larger quarters, hoping to go up to 8x4x4 next year with a bit of luck

How are you planning on getting that sucker in? Built on location?

I agree with you, which is why I said minimum. Mine is in a 4x2 and uses every bit of it as well, but she knows her boundaries.

It'll be built on site or possibly made to order. I have room to get an 8x4x4 through my garage and double doors etc right into the greenhouse where pond is going.

Kinda like to build it, made one several years ago.

We'll see.
