My polypterus endlicheri is just shy of a foot now. It's currently in a 55g grow out by itself. I'm not getting my large tank till november, will it be ok to keep in the 55 till then. Also how are the polys with live plants.
How large a tank you going? I guess a lot depends on you, if you feed heavy and do heavy water changes you are basically power feeding the fish and it grows super fast. The fish should be able to turn around still for a while and November is not that far off. Just keep up with you water changes to keep water quality up.
I don't have live plants but my big polys pull out the plastic plants all the time due the large body mass.
Well it will be a 125g minimum. That or a 180 but either tank is gonna be a steal price wise. Just depends on which one my friend is gonna go with. If it's the 125 I'll get it for 100 bucks if it's the 180 I'll get it for 150. So I'm not gonna be picky. Right now I'm feeding 4 or 5 massivor pellets a day and doing 50% water changes every 4 to 5 days.
Penguins are great for the money since they go on sale so often and sometimes you can get three of those for the cost of a single AC110. But the cost of cartridges will add up over the course of the life of the filter. I was buying them online from Ken's for a pretty decent price. Eventually switched over and just use the aquaclear hob now. Keep eyes open for sales and you can get them for a reasonable price.
The reason for the penguins is I have 3 of them already. With the tank selection I have no choice. It just whatever he's not gonna set up. I'd rather have the ac 110 but this will be a pretty cheap build for me as I already have 90% of the equipment.
