This probably sounds really stupid but I read somewhere that arowanas can be kept in a 75g tank and that they only get like 20". I doubt this is true but can someone clear this up for me:confused:.

Well isn't ehir a Jardini fish that gets like 24-26 inches long, but thats still way to large for a 75G. Only use a tank that small for a grow out.

False. Even at 20", a 75g would be too small for it. A 300g or bigger would be perfect for life.

It was from a book. And thanks everyone. It was a picture of a silver arow.

i would a swimming pool work work( not gonna do it but if i ever get a house with a swimming poool wanto know)?

you can keep them in a 75 gallon for about a year or so, but once they hit 15" they are going to need atleast a 4ft x 2ft tanks or bigger....I have an RTG in 75 gallon right now, but in a year or so I expect it to be close to 12" and I'm starting to save money as we speak right now to get a monster tank....

They will only get 20 inches, but thats not good, they will be stunted, probably have a crooked back, and they will be highly inclined to jump and try to commit suicide because they probably want to die. And the only way you could prevent them from doing it is by forcing the lid down with bungee cords and bricks, but then you are pretty much keeping an animal against his own will IMO.

Just get a bigger tank.

The following is a pic of an silver arowana raised to 22" in a 90g tank which is the same as a 75g only 3" taller.
