How big a tank do you need for a RTC?
I have seen one in my local Fish Shop and i know they grow big, i just wondered thats all.

Anyone that has one of a decent size has them in Multi-thousand gallon set ups... but with proper filtration you could prob get away with 10'x4'x4' for along time... but there is always the chance that an upgrade would be needed should you be able to keep your RTC Alive long enough to outgrow that tank (4-5 years)
i guess i will give that a miss then.
2 years tops... don't forget that these guys like to turn around from time to time and don't do well when their head is touching one side and their tail on the other...stresses them out
Yep, they need big homes. And growout tanks don't last long. I knew they grew fast but for those wondering they grow REAL fast. I am sure there is a point it slows some but I've seen 7" growth in a little less than 7 weeks. If that says anything.

as long as the width is decenti don't find my RTC growing all that fast (genes?) despite the amount of food that they consume (mines live in 3x2x0.8m) - I hope they outgrow it so that i will gave an excuse to commence my pond but i have a feeling that paimas will create necessity first
