What type of tank is better 125 gallon long tank or 150 gallon deep tank for cichlids. I have a 55 gallon tank with one red devil in it, and a 65 gallon corner tank with 5 african cichlids. Also what else can I put in the tank with the red devil? Thanks

150. bigger the better for the future.

They have the same footprint so you're really not gaining anything but height going with the 150. That being said personally I think the 150's look better being a little taller, but it won't allow you to keep anymore fish.

As far as tankmates for your RD, that depends entirely on the personality of your RD, I had a male who would not tolorate anyone in his tank at all. If it will allow tankmates select some that are around the same size and temperment (SA/CA cichlids)

I disagree about not being able to keep more fish in the 150 vs the 125. esp. if you keep active swimming fish.

eg. my 90 and 65 had the exact same footprint, but I could keep a few more fish in the 90 than I could in the 65. the 90 was the same footprint as the 65, only 6 inches taller..

I think it does make a difference to some extent. the extra water volume helps alot with the bioload..

all I know is that 99.999999% of the time, when people have to choose between a smaller tank and a bigger tank, if they chose the smaller tank they always end up regretting it..

True that. I started with a 35g went to 90g now I'm only going 300g and that's it for me.
