I know hystrix and scobina are th smallest I do not know the recommended tank size. I have a 180 and was wondering if that is big enough for 2 of them.

I would say no, not for life, although it depends on footprint and filtration, as well. If you are only keeping a couple Potamotrygon hystrix or P. scobina then I would say 6'x3' should do nicely. A 180 makes for a nice growout tank, but just be aware that there is no way that they should be living in that as adults (if it is standard footprint). If you want to keep rays, try to go as wide and long as possible.

Thats pretty much what I thought I just wanted to double check to be sure. Thank you for your answer I'm just trying to figure out some ideas for this tank:irked:

You can always build one! Super inexpensive. There are several really good ones in the DIY section of this site. :)

In the words of another ray keeper to me, 8x4x2ft. Build it once...

It is the smallest you should go. Hystrix get to be about 14 inches across and keeping it in something smaller would be cruel. They are intelligent creatures and are very well aware of their surroundings.

And it is not too expensive to build one. A trip to home depot and you are set.

Wow. I absolutely agree 100%. :)

96"x30"x24" be ideal 96"x36"x24" be perfect...
