If i wanted to do a reef setup with 1 Taenianotus triacanthus,1 Pterois antennata or Pterois radiata and 1 Echidna nebulosa,What size tank am i looking at to make this work?

Thanks Nate

Firstly if you want quick responces it would be better to post the common names of the fish as there are few memebers (unless Im mistaken) that know the taxonomic nomenclature of the fish. Just a recomendation.

ANYWAYS... ummm well, the recomended size tank for all but the eel is around 30-40 gal, but since they are all preds its not a bad idea to oversize to minamize possible agression. I would say to keep all the fish happy and healthy go with 70+gal (because of the eel). Now I dont personaly have any experience combining lionfish, leaffish, and eels, thats more of TheCanucks expertise then mine, but I would think in a 70gal they should be fine together.

Thanks was looking for an accurate response. All the compatibility charts i looked at the combo is safe,And came up with 30 to 40gallons on all but,Liverock will take away from that so should i be taking in consideration of volume displacement?

I agree, its always safe to oversize the tank. Pred tanks are usually "dirty" tanks due the amount of waste being produced so keep in mind, good skimming and a sump are probably a must. If i were to set this up, i would just go with a 120-125 gallon tank. My reason is because you will probably want to change your stock at some point in time. This allows you some wiggle room as well in case the two lions dont get along. There is more room for them to be spread apart. a 90 gallon would also be a good option if your more into the smaller footprint, but you will deff want more water volume to help you keep the tank clean and looking nice. good luck.

Well keep in mind you will need eventually a 75 gallon. So i would say this at least or bigger if you can. Budget is always an important thing. The snowflake will get 24inches, i had one that got 3ft and was looking big for my 125. I would say a 125 would be perfect, and would last you a long time and give you the chance to mix up your stock a little.

Predators will always be trail and error... One thing that concerns me is the leaf fish... Even though they say they will go together they will usually get picked on... I think and orange toadfish would suit this stock better.

They have a bit more aggression and can handle them selfs IIIFFF they need too. Just in case your stock changes you want fish that dont hinder you from buying things in the future.

Soooo.... whats your plans on filtration and skimmer etc? i guess this will be based off your tank size you choose...

Check out my thread dude in the setup in filtration... theres some good info on saving money ... like my home depo t8 fixtures for 10$ and my lace rock for a dollar a pound. The pvc overflow and homemade sump.

Well i say stick with the moray bro.

Whats your space your limited to?

The bigger the better, cause once you get predators you will just keep getting bigger and bigger... then you look back and wish you would have bought that big tank in the first place...

I will say this, 125 is the best size tank ever made. You can NEVER go wrong buying this size tank. My 125 SW was my favorite tank i ever owned.
