Tank Size

What is the minimum tank size required to house an adult Channel Catfish and what would the recommended size be?

I'd say about 300 gallons. Most channel cat keepers just put them in ponds once they reach a certain size.

Do you think 300 would be suitable for 2 fish or just 1?

I'm not sure, tbh, but I'd think that would be a bit cramped once they got into the 30-36" range.

Hi Nancy, i'm also in Moncton, and I've seen you ask lots of questions about monster catfish, so for starters, how big is your current tank? I know you asked about Wels catfish before, and Serge at Getfish currently has some 5" Ompok catfish; a species similar to the Wels, but they only get around 18".

Wouldn't you need at least a 500 gallon aquarium for Channel Catfish, I have never kept them myself though.
