Hey guys i was wondering what tank would comfortbly fit a weeksi, senegalus, ornate, delhezi, and a semi-short body senegalus. Both the sens are about 4 inches the weeksi is about 7 and the ornate and del are 6.5. It probably wouldn't hurt to say i will be adding a moke, and buettikoferi (possibly).
So i was running scenarios in my head but i wanted to see if i could find any more brilliant ideas from here. I would like to know a tank size for all of them (even the possible ones) and one for only the ones i have. Thanks for the help, Dr.B :D

for bichirs a wider footprint is more important than height, and yeah your ornate and weeksii will grow 20+inches.
for your group, a 4x2 would be good for a while

yeah that was one of the thoughts that cam into my head but then again my ornate is shy as can be (not that i makes a difference) and the weeksi will take a while. Everything is CB except for the weeksi and delhezi. I really am only concerned about the sen that is semi-short body. The other one (baby) is growing the fastest of them all. I got him about 4 months ago at .75 and he grew from that to 2 inches in a month stopped for a bit an i wake up and he is 4 almost 5. he is also really fat. I think that he actually has more girth than my weeksi or just about the same. I'll see if i can get some pics

Assuming that they will all grow to max size. I would recommend a 150 gallon tank.

I also have other questions. What kind of sand would bring out their colors and patterns the most. Should i add plants? Rocks? what filtration should i have (i have an EHIEM 2217 (classic 600), and what foods should i feed for a varied diet. I am already feeding silversides, a little beefheart, and some massivore pellets, but i would like to know what kinds of food are good for them and they will enjoy? Thanks for all the help Dr.B :D

Everything but the ornate and weeksii could go in a 75, but since you have the ornate, you'll need at least a 4x2x2 for adult size. For substrate, crushed garnet, and other darker red substrates are best for contrast. Black for greens and darker patterns. For diet, a high quality pellet mixed with live foods will be best. Black worms, tubifex worms, earth worms, and NLS is what I feed mine.

I'm thinking about black sand because i'm trying to pull the green out. But my weeksi is starting to show awesome red coloration on his fins. But he looks good either way. Should i add plants i have some right now but they seem to just contribute to the waste and get in the way.
