tank size

my friend has a black p in a 45g but i think u can get away w/ 1 red belly in a 30g, just be prepared to do alot of water changes because they are slobs.

what kind of piranha are you talking about? most piranhas (with the exceptions of a few) are not active swimmers and shouldn't command overly large tanks relative to the fish's size. That would be common sense, as no one in their right minds would house a 12" fish in a 10g tank. I also suggest the length of the tank be at least 4 times longer than that of the fish, and of course the width be at the very least the same as the length of the fish to give it ample space to turn around and manuver.

it is recomended by many keepers that solitary species be housed in square tanks with very good water flow (especially juveniles).

no one in mind. just kinda always wanted to keep them don't really know anything about them. I've seen some smaller ones before but now i guess they were probably juvinile. basically wondering if i could keep any in a 20 gallon. so i guess the answer would be yes, i could keep some small juviniles. but i would need to watch waterquality and plan on a bigger tank for when they grow. does that about sum it up??

I have my 4 nattis in a 75 gallon right now and my piraya in a 25 gallon. I used to have my one 10" red in a 29 gallon with a penguin 330 filter on it. I had no trouble with water quality even though I sometimes slacked off on the water changes. PM me if you have anymore questions.
