how wrong is it to keep 3 rbp's in a 25g tank...? 30Lx12.5Wx16H... ( 2 are 3'' n 1 is 2''...) they have been there for 3 weeks and they're not bitting, fighting,or anything...(well the little one gets picked on a bit but he's ok) i keep reading and seeing all these people with there bigger tanks just FULL of fish, it doesnt make sense to me... how can 22 rbp's live in a 75g, but 3 in a 25g is too small...? i need to hear from someone who know's what they are talking about... thanks...

moved to piranha section.

22 on a 75g is also way too much.
3 in a 25g will not last very long,
these fish are unpredictable and can easily wipe each other out.
they need there own space to escape any fighting.
sometimes we all need to get away

I agree that sometimes this is how it seems. Look at my signature, 3x in a 30g, juvenile RBP... Here is how I see it:

In a 20g, there is nowhere to go. Whether you have 1 RBP or 6, the tank is still small. On the other hand in a 75g, stocked with 22 RPB (as in your example), yes there are a lot of fish, but there is still 75 gallons of water to swim in, dart and hide. Yes 22 RBP in a 75g is also overstocked, but it's better than overstocked in a 20g imo.

My quarantine tank is a 20g, and I did have to place 3x5" RBP in there for a few days. And guess what they did not kill each other, but they were friggin nervous and smashed in the glass all the time. 20g is too small for even 1 RBP, at full size. Juveniles is another story...

Don't think they will last to long i had 2 in a ten gallon got them at the start of december gone on christmas morning!!!

hey Dogg, I would say tha best choices for tha redbelly would definitely be uh tank over 55, foe lyfe. Fo sho fo sho, a 55, Dogg

55 gallon, that is. If I was a fish, I would be stoked to have such a tight crib such as a 55 gallon tank cuz a 55 gallon tank is bomb-diggity, foe a fish, that is. Ya dig? you know what I'm sayin', Dogg?

You could keep 22 in a planted 75g until they get about 3" long, as they grow they get to feeling crowded then eat each other, eventually you will have about 5 adults, sort of expensive.
