Well i was wondering what the minimum tank sizes for a few poly's would be.

Endlis?
Ornates?
Laps?
and even though its not a poly, ropes?

i'm guessing around 75-100 gallons?

anybody?

EDIT: looking around and i'm finding most of it through the search function of these forums....my bad.

Those fish get to around 2 feet long so you would want a tank that's at least that wide also. Tank length should be at least 2-3 times that. So you're looking at a 120 gallon for maybe 1-2 of those bichirs or 180 if you wanted to keep more. The ropes aren't good to keep with the larger bichirs since they can appear like skinny worms to them. Also this info can be already be seen in Anne's primer.

i'm thinking since i'm pretty damn sure i have a deal worked out to get a 40L and 55, i'm going to put a rope in the 55 gallon with a Jack Dempsey or a Severum, and maybe a delhezi or palmas polli in the 40L with a few other fish.

I just saw some ropes the other day at Earl Mays, and they look pretty healthy and vicious!

id swich it around delhezi or palmas need more room than ropefish which get about 2-3 feet but are slow and kind of lazy

75g will last a while, but ultimately, something 2' wide and 4' long or larger will be required.

will do then!

well i think today i'm going to bring home a 9" or so ropefish. I've heard they are very very slow growing, so i can keep it in my 29 gallon for a month or two until i get my larger tank.

You'll be alright for a while. One thing to watch out for---make sure your tank is sealed. I had one of these guys and it was a nightmare.
