I just moved my 75 gallon tank and have stabilized it with shims. The tank is as level as I can get it, and it does not rock thanks to the shims, but the whole stand does not touch the floor. I was wondering if this is a problem for the tank stand as instead of the weight being evenly distributed, there are parts of the stand not touching the floor.

Also, how does this impact the weight distribution? I am in an apartment on the 2nd floor so I want to make sure the weight is as evenly distributed as possible.

I have taken pictures to show how the tank is sitting and the shims I have used. I am thinking of using shims across the stand as needed.

Normally, shims should be across the entire side that needs shimming, not just one corner. If the shims are strong enough to withstand the pressure, it might work, but it's more likely and will have more stability if it's shimmed across the entire side. Adding shims every 6 inches would be an alternative.

Having said that, people do often shim this way. If it works and you are comfortable with it, should be ok as long as the shim doesn't loose shape and the stand doesn't move.

I don't see these shims breaking/collapsing. I've added another 4. They cost hardly anything so I will buy more just to be careful. Thanks!
