I just made a thread, 1 day ago about the best way to cycled my 140gallon before my move my 3 synodontis catfish (One Synodontis Eupterus, 1 Synodontis Hybrid, and one Synodontis Unidentified) and my 10 - 15cm female Frontosa Burundi.
My stand that was carrying the tank these guys where in before broke down, some water damage, from a mistake, and some other stuff. Basically that tank was closed and the room where the tank was took some series waterdamage. Basically i had to move the fish in way before time. (Tank was setup yesterday, and Fx5 today) I moved my rocks from the other tank, and the sponge filter, and put it on, on the tank. What should i do now? I could buy Tetra Safestart tomorrow, and guessing that will work, but what else could i do?

If you have a preseeded sponge filter and decor from the cycled tank you should be fine. Just monitor water Params and keep up with water changes, catfish are generally a hardy group of fish so I wouldn't worry to much. One time my pap drove a flathead home to eat in the back seat of his car with no moisture or water whatsoever, 2 hour drive later it's still kicking hard! So that shows you how adaptable they are.

assuming you got the sponge and rocks over immediately before the bb died you should be on a mini cycle... could do some safe start to be sure...

Also will need an ammonia source dont dose with the safestart until the fish are in. Another thing dont dose safestart after adding prime or what ever water conditioner tou use for at least 24 hrs. Amdnifnyou can spare the money mayne by enough for two doses so that if ammonia or nitrite creep up to unacceptable levels you can redose without have to do a water change. Between the safestart and the already seeded sponge you should be cycled in days. Key is no dosing until 24 hrs after you use conditioners

Fish are in, other tank emptyed.
Almost no chlorine in the water in Denmark, so stuff to remove that, is not nessecery.

Gravel (0.9 - 1.6mm) is new. The rocks was in low water, with no filter for maybe 30minuttes to 1 hour, then moved it.
The FX5 isnt cycled, but theres a cycled sponge filter, in the tank, that came from the tank wich stand broke.

Thats good about the wsternin denmark... basicaly youll be ahead of the game by 24hrs

Bought Tetra Aquasafe today, i shaked the hell out of it, ready to dose the tank, but then i though "Is there any speciel way that i need to dose it, or just put it all in now?" It says to use 5ml pr 10l, but it dosnt say anything else about over how long a period, so should i just dump it all in the tank now? I havent fed yet, fearing it will make an ammonia spike, (Just found out my ammonia test kit is expired, and my lfs didnt have any, checked today.) My nitrite is at 0, so thats good. Can i feed while i use Tetra Aquasafe?

Did you buy Aquasafe or Safestart? Aquasafe is to condition the raw water and remove chlorine. Safestart is a bacteria additive to help cycle the tank.

Either product should be dosed at the correct amount at the same time, no need to wait.

You could feed the fish normally using the product but since this is an emergency setup with an uncycled tank, either refrain from feeding for a couple days or feed very sparingly.

How soon can you get any ammonia test kit? Can your LFS test your water for you?
