My 29g tank needed a new stand and I had my 20g tank balanced on a kids table:duh: I was going to break down and buy a stand till my husband brought up making one. Yay!
Of course if we were going to go through the trouble of making a stand I wanted it to be a double to hold both tanks. After a trip to pick up supplies and a couple hours of work(got the kids involved too) we now have our first homemade stand:grinyes:

Next will be modifying the double stand I have for the two 125g tanks. I want to make it into two separate stands that sit lower for ease of maintenance.
After getting opinions here we have decided on drilling the tanks so I can have a sump. I’m incredibly nervous, but hope all will go well! Since I want low stands I’ll likely keep the sump tank on the floor between the two tanks.

Nice stand, I like how simple the design is.

Could you post a picture of the double stand for the 125’s?

Looks great! I love the double rack. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!
I’m so happy with how it turned out. Now the tank doesn’t wiggle when we walk in and out of the room. The last stand was crazy scary. Haha.

Over the weekend my husband made me a stand for one of the 125’s and shortened the legs on the original stand to make it the hight I wanted. He also made the bottom a shelf for equipment to sit on.

I still need to do one more coat of paint but I ran out.

I’m also reconsidering having them share a sump. I might just keep them separate for bio containment purposes. I’ll be giving it some more thought.
A fellow fish keeper was kind enough to give me two nice 55g tanks so I’d already have what I need for both to be separate.

Next we will drill the tanks. Not going to lie.... I’m really scared. ?
